Wonder about the concrete and glass towers in Singapore? Singapore has traded its rough opium dens and pearl for them and the spotless streets. For the first glance, it appears to be quite modern but you can find a lot more traditional like Chinese, Malay and Indian stuff here. Its colorful landscape is what brings the city to life. So, if you are planning for a holiday to Singapore then here is a quick guide to make you familiar with the place and its attractions. Kuda Kepang is a traditional dance at Singapore that takes place on a Saturday night. At the dance you will see men riding wooden horses. These men look like as if they are warriors. They whirl and spin while slapping their horses in order to make them come out with threatening noises. The music is Malay Music, purely traditional and rhythmic. They dance like performing battles and as the dance ends the horsemen are in a reverie. That sounds exciting. That’s not all, the horsemen inhale frankincense from a burning pot. After this they are fed with glass which they have to chomp and gulp down. These horsemen also slice coconuts with their teeth. The startling thing is that they don’t remember any of the tricks they did the previous night. This incredible dance is not performed at a customary basis. The next attraction is the Asian Civilization Museum. It is located at the Armenian Street. Here you will find various calligraphies, furniture, ceramics and superior collections of jade put on display. The exhibition is regularly modified to represent other Asian Civilizations also. The Butterfly Park and the Insect Kingdom is also a beautiful place to visit. You have to walk to gain all knowledge about different species of butterflies. Mostly these ones up for display are dead but there is a vast collection over there like 2500 of bugs. If you are one of those food freaks then no need to worry about your appetite in Singapore. It has a variety of cuisines like new Asia Cuisine (a combination of Western and Eastern Ingredients), Cantonese cuisine, Shanghai cuisine, Indian Cuisine, Beijing cuisine, Malay cuisine and Chinese cuisine. There are a whole lot of bars and clubs at your service in Singapore. The Anywhere Music Pub is one of the oldest of pubs at Singapore. The Bar None conducts theme parties, band performances and humor nights and the club is very popular. Harry’s Quayside bar is a classy place which is situated by the riverside. The bar has cozy seating arrangements and some good music playing in the background. Singapore’s beaches are also a great place to hang out. The Central Beach is the most happening beach there. If you want to enjoy some water sports then you can very well hire a Kayak. Often night parties are conducted here too. Shopping freaks always have the same destination, Singapore. The Hilton Shopping Gallery is the one stop shop for some exclusive shopping. The Shaw house is a store selling designer Japanese outfits for both men and women. You can also look for accessories and cosmetics here. Other famous shopping places include Tang’s Plaza and Specialists’ Shopping Centre.
